If you add only a little spice to Yakitori, the basic sauce or salty taste of Yakitori changes.

The possibilities for changing the flavor of Yakitori are endless. Common Japanese spices that can enhance the flavor of Yakitori are shichimi and sansho (Japanese pepper).

Shichimi is a mixture of chili pepper, sesame, citrus peel, poppy seed oil, cole seed, hemp seed and sansho. This hot spice is indispensable for those who like chili dishes. This spice goes perfectly with sauce and confines the fatty taste. With this in mind, it is recommended that you use this spice with chicken meat balls, skin or any other fatty Yakitori dishes.

Sansho
has a refreshing flavor and increases the appetite. It constrains the fatty taste just as shichimi does, and its unique flavor eliminates the fishy smell associated with some Yakitori. This refreshing and spicy flavor maximizes the taste of Yakitori.

In addition to the above, chili pepper and wasabi or horse radish are also used to add flavor to a Yakitori dish. Although Yakitori is basically served with a secret sweet soy sauce or salt, we hope you discover your own favorite Yakitori flavor by adding and experimenting with additional spices. With just a pinch of spice, you will experience an acquired taste.
